    Role Overview

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Junior CAD Engineer with experience in the nuclear industry. 

    The CAD Engineer will support the Engineering Manager and work as part of an integrated project team. The CAD engineer shall be qualified in an engineering discipline and/or have several years’ experience co-ordinating and developing designs and shall be very proficient in 2-D and 3-D CAD drafting. The role includes providing engineering design, co-ordination and integration of multi service projects, including specialist supplier’s, to clients across the Nuclear Sector.

    Typical Work Activities

    Responsibilities associated with this role will include, but are not limited to: 

    • Produce engineering drawings conforming to the required standards.
    • Ensure all technical documents and data, including that issued by sub-contractors, are prepared and structured in accordance with relevant procedures.
    • Develop the overall engineering models with the Integration Manager and Package Leads.
    • Ensuring adequate interfacing between other technical disciplines.
    • Check engineering documents in line with the technical and quality plan.
    • Technical review of design deliverables, including the checking of drawings and models issued by the sub-contractors to ensure they are compliant with the project standards and can be integrated into the overall project layout.
    • Support the Management team in the production of proposals and tenders in accordance with client and Wood  commercial requirements.
    • Undertake design calculations and the production of written engineering deliverables when required to do so.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Essential Skills and Experience

    • Proven track record of delivering co-ordinated multi-discipline design to engineering projects of various sizes in highly regulated industries to time and budget.
    • Degree or BTEC qualifications or an equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
    • Essential to be proficient in using AutoCAD Inventor and Autodesk Navisworks.
    • Work well and effectively communicate with others at all levels.
    • Committed to Continuous Professional Development.
    • Ability to work autonomously.

    Desirable Skills and Experience                                                           

    • Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry would be an advantage.

     

    Special Requirements

    • Must have a minimum of SC clearance.
    • UK Citizenship.

     

    Reports to

    • Project Engineering Manager.
