Wood is currently recruiting an Assistant Consultant or Consultant level Ecologist to join the team in our Bristol office in order to support in the delivery of some exciting and varied projects. Our long established but still growing team delivers high quality ecological services on complex projects in a variety of sectors including transport, renewables, nuclear, other power, waste, minerals and property.
Wood is looking for individuals with a background in high quality technical work, so you must have some experience in undertaking extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys as well as a range of species specific ecological surveys (preferably at least two of the following: great crested newts, reptiles, water voles, otters, bats, badgers, birds and invertebrates). You will also have experience in preparing or contributing to reports and documentation to support planning applications. Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience would be beneficial as would a wider understanding of ecological mitigation techniques.
You will work closely with other ecology team members and with colleagues in other technical disciplines on a wide variety of projects. You will undertake a broad range of ecological survey work and associated reporting. You will help to devise appropriate mitigation and habitat creation, enhancement and management schemes and will supervise the implementation of ecological mitigation. If appropriate, you will have the opportunity to task manage a variety of ecological services, take on business development responsibilities and provide mentoring to less experienced staff if you have a particular skills set.
