Overview / Responsibilities

 Wood is currently recruiting for a Principle Pharma Engineer with extensive experience in the pharmacy, biochemistry industry.

  • Leadership of a Group of pharma personnel assigned to a project
  • Leadership of pharma group regarding to the technical issues and project execution
  • Co-ordination of the technical standard of engineering, design and draughting within a Discipline Project Assigned Team, as applicable
  • The identification of the full scope of discipline work
  • Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Standards, including Foster Wheeler and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour, cost budgets and the project schedule targets
  • Liaise with the Project Coordinating Engineer regarding the interpretation of Client's Specifications and Standards
  • Review the project execution schedule developed by the Project Control Department and to develop the detailed schedule for pharma process Engineering and/or Design activities if necessary
  • Participate in design and checking work as required, include but not limit to:
    • Block flow diagrams
    • Mass and Heat balance
    • Process design basis, calculation sheets, etc
    • PFD, P&ID, Fluid list, Line list, tie-in list, etc
    • Process equipment list
    • Process equipment layout, GMP zoning layout
    • Material / personnel flow diagram
    • Process summaries and schedules (effluents & emissions, chemicals & catalysts, utilities, battery limits and, relief and blowdown)
    • Equipment process data sheet, Instrument process data sheet
    • URS
  • Technical and preliminary budget quotation supporting for cost estimate
  • Prepared related pharma process section in the required permitting report
  • Follow the ethics of confidentiality on technologies licensed by Client or Third Party
  • Ensure that quality of design and drawings produced for enquiry and construction purposes on projects are of the specified standard
  • Prepare requisitions for procurement of materials as requested. Issue material requisitions for enquiry, order placement and for any subsequent revisions. Review Supplier’s quotations, participate in clarification meetings, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable supplier
  • Hold co-ordination meetings with the supplier during the design phase and provide assistance to site when requested during the construction phase of a project
  • Carry out the following functions relative to Suppliers documentation:
    • Review document requirements and issue dates with Suppliers at the pre-ward meeting
    • Distribute Supplier documentation to the various Engineering and Drawing Office Groups and co-ordinate their comments. Prepare consolidated comments and return these to the Supplier
    • Correspond with the Supplier on technical matters and ensure that action is taken where necessary
  • Liaise with other Functions or Group and Client as necessary
  • Provide process support to the other engineering disciplines
  • Advise the Principal Building Service Engineer Structure of:
    • Any major slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action
    • All policy matters, major technical problems and unresolved differences with other Groups
  • Review relevant project design work which may be involved following items as requested:
    • Engineering Flow Diagrams
    • PFD, P&ID
    • GMP zoning layout
    • Personnel and Material Flow Diagrams
    • Piping Layouts and Model
    • Automation system architecture diagram
    • Instrument and Electrical Layout drawings
    • Architecture layout
    • Civil structure layouts
    • HVAC AHU system schematics diagram and pressure zoning layout
    • Telecom security system drawings
    • URS
  • Participate the design review workshops as necessary
  • Participate Process safety design and review activities as required
  • Prepared related pharma process part report in the Project Close-out Report
  • Execute the work within time frame required by department manager

Skills / Qualifications


  • Bachelor / Master Degree in pharmacy, biochemistry or related majors is preferred
  • At least 15 years of Process experience in Pharmaceutical Company and/or international engineering company specialised in Pharma projects, medium or above grade process engineer is preferred
  • Familiar with Chinese and international standards & codes, GMP regulations and pharma industry practices
  • Familiar with pharma equipment specification and procurement technical supporting process
  • Professional work attitude and reliability
  • Effective communication skills with fluent spoken and written English
  • Ability to use computer tools
  • Work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skill
  • Good teamwork player
