Overview / Responsibilities

Wood  Environment & Infrastructure (E&I) business line is currently recruiting for an Environmental Engineer. This role will be based in our office in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia and will be working on projects across different sectors.

Wood employs over 36,000 professionals, with our E&I business line including over 7,000 employees globally working across several sectors, including: master planning, infrastructure engineering and construction, project and construction management, water resources management, water and waste water treatment, waste management, transportation, environmental remediation and environmental consulting; plus we also support our Clean Energy, Industrial / Pharmaceuticals, Mining and Oil & Gas business lines. This role will also involve interfacing with fellow E&I professionals in our offices in Europe and North America.


  • Develop and establish key client relationships
  • Support proposal response to client opportunities, including technical scope of work, pricing and support of commercial terms
  • Support the preparation of project execution plans and delivers on selected project, as proposed to clients
  • Assist in subcontractor procurement and coordination
  • Prepare technical reports, in whole or in part, depending on the size and complexity of the document and key subject matter areas
  • Perform moderately complex technical tasks or plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates project work for large work scopes
  • Demonstrate technical competency in a combination of areas including site remediation, environmental planning & permitting or environmental compliance
  • Conduct multi-media sampling including soil, groundwater, vapor, indoor air, asbestos, and other regulated materials
  • Conduct emergency response efforts in response to spills or other client requests
  • Conduct oversight of subcontractors, including drillers (direct push, sonic, and hollow stem auger), remediation contractors and emergency response contractors
  • Evaluate compliance of subcontractor work against technical specifications and scopes of work
  • Demonstrate and maintain competency in a diverse set of environmental regulations
  • The position may entail approximately 80% office work and 20% field work on a variety of projects primarily for industrial and commercial clients

Skills / Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science
  • M.S. degree in related Environmental & Engineering would be preferred as well
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the Middle East
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English and Arabic language (written and verbal)
  • Good organizational abilities
  • Willingness and ability to interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, clients and develop effective teamwork relationships
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required
  • Must pass drug test, entrance physical and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy
