Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking Reinforced Steel Foreman candidates to join our team in Guam. The Reinforced Steel Forman positions and secures steel bars in concrete forms to reinforce concrete.


The role of a Foreman is to assist the Superintendent in providing leadership, direction and supervision of craft workers; to provide coordination in order that crafts work in a safe and productive manner. Will evaluate, monitor and report on work progression, whilst ensuring that all works are conducted in compliance and in line with man-hour budget.


Qualified candidates will have a full working knowledge of their craft sector, to be aware of industry/legislative changes, safety protocols, relevant certifications (for personnel or equipment).


Key Responsibilities

  • Determines number, size, shape and locations of reinforcing rods from shop drawings, sketches or oral instructions
  • Positions and secures steel bars in concrete forms to reinforce concrete
  • Selects and places rod in forms; spacing and fastening them together using wire and pliers
  • Cuts bars to required lengths, using hacksaw, bar cutters or acetylene torch
  • Bend steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machine
  • Reinforces concrete with wire mesh
  • May reinforce concrete with wire mesh. May weld reinforcing bar together, using arc-welding equipment
  • Insures that all reinforcing material is in its proper position, so it receives its intended structural load
  • Loads, transports, unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies
  • May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation
  • May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Assist in the planning and coordinate labor requirements
  • Evaluating performance against schedule
  • Closing out Punch list items as allocated
  • Advising Superintendent of any issues, impacts, risks or potential costs (financial or time)
  • Maintaining and updating short range look ahead
  • Maintain and monitor company and project specific HSE plans, ensuring awareness and compliance is asserted

Skills / Qualifications


  • Minimum of 12 months documented field experience at supervisory level in chosen craft discipline
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation
  • Experience in maintaining short range look ahead plans
  • Must be a US Citizen


  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
  • Rate information us' standards which can be measured or checked
  • Compare and see differences 'in the size, shape and forms of lines, figures and object
  • Look at shop drawings, drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects with height, width or depth
  • Apply basic mathematical skills
  • Follow oral and written directions
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in adhering to, monitoring and implementing project HSE policies
