  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Due to an increase in demand for Manufacturing Engineering expertise form with in Wood and from our customer base we are seeking to strengthen and grow our team in this discipline.  Therefore we are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to our team based in our Bristol MoD Project Office.

     

    As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be working within an established yet growing team operating within Wood's Consultancy & Defence Business, supporting the Ministry of Defence in the Nuclear Submarine Programme.

     

    Role Responsibilities:

    • To work with our existing Manufacturing Engineers in support of our internal and external customers.
    • To provide specialist advice and support to the team and our customers.
    • To progress Manufacturing issues on a tactical level.
    • To support, propose and develop Manufacturing Improvement activities.
    • Representing Wood at internal and external meetings.
    • Identifying commercial opportunities for Wood  and ensuring that appropriate follow-up actions are taken
    • Maintaining and upholding Wood codes of conduct and safety standards

    Role Requirements:

    • Proven experience within industry as a Manufacturing Engineer, preferably with involvement of the manufacture of the naval nuclear propulsion programme or civil nuclear plants. 
    • Excellent communications and presentation skills
    • Relevant Manufacturing process and quality process qualifications.
    • Ability to work across a range of tasks and liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Ability to work at strategic and tactical levels.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Flexibility with the ability to travel as the demands of the role dictates
    • Working knowledge of UK Regulatory systems and the organisations involved
    • Working Knowledge of UK Nuclear Safety Cases and their structure.
    • A strong self-starter mentality, able to work confidently, often un-supervised

    This role is ideal for a confident and developing Manufacturing Engineer.  Flexibility is absolutely key to the role and you will have the opportunity to apply and build your skills in a variety of ways and levels within the manufacturing processes we are working in support of.  You will enjoy a considerable degree of autonomy and be expected to do the right thing both technically and behaviourally in terms of acting as an ambassador for the company on client premises.  The role presents opportunities to develop your Manufacturing expertise and managerial experience, thus providing personal and professional rewards.
