Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for a professional HSE Adviser with extensive experience in the identification of hazards and mitigation of OSH&E risks across all stages of the project life cycle.  Fully conversant with internationally recognised Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental standards and competent in auditing against these standards.

Experienced in the implementation of HSE improvement plans in a nuclear project or similar highly regulated environment and supporting nuclear customers on a wide range of technical and behavioural issues.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility to work short term in any of our UK, European and Global business locations and be able to articulate real world HSE improvement solutions across a range of nuclear and energy projects together with the ability to drive the importance of HSE assurance and performance in our business culture.

 

Accountable for:

 

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of CE HSE policies, systems and procedures consistently across all projects offices within the CE business to deliver HSE excellence
  • Supporting a robust OSH&E assurance process (by initiating a programme of scheduled site and office OSH audits and inspections across CE)
  • Assisting the CE HSE Director / CE Senior HSE Business Partners in the delivery of excellent business OSH&E support to each of the CE business units, assisting in incident investigations, training and development
  • Technically supporting bids and providing bespoke technical advice
  • Deputising for the CE Senior HSE Business Partners as and when required

 

Responsible for:

 

  • Supporting a CE wide OSH&E assurance programme across nuclear projects and offices
  • Providing OSH&E advice to Managers and Staff
  • Supporting and driving OSH&E standardisation across CE
  • Managing / conducting OSH&E auditing – internal and 3rd party
  • Communicating best OSH&E practice across CE
  • Input to management reviews
  • Assisting projects with OSH&E planning
  • Assuring legislative compliance
  • Actively driving OSH&E initiatives and continuous improvement throughout CE
  • Conducting incident investigations and completing reports as directed by the CE HSE Director / Senior HSE Business Partner
  • Liaising and engaging with HSE Committee Representatives
  • OSH input to pre-qualifications and tenders
  • Supporting the development of local OSH&E project documentation
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues in OSH&E activities
  • Input to vendor approvals, assessments and monitoring vendor performance
  • Acting as a CE point of liaison for LRQA audits
  • Ensuring that correct OSH&E project reviews are being completed in a timely manner

Skills / Qualifications

 

  • Ideally qualified to degree/equivalent level you should possess a NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent and a recognised HSE auditing qualification
  • Ideally you will be a Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards this status
  • You should be enrolled for IPD/CPD with IOSH
  • An Environmental qualification is also desirable
