Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to work in al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This position will be on the Sadara Enterprise project and is scheduled to run for approximately twelve months.


Sadara Chemical Company have selected Wood to support an EPCM requirement for enhancements to their operational facilities in Jubail. The role is for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to support a small multi-discipline engineering team in Al Khobar. The role involves preparation of Proposals and work packs for minor capital and maintenance projects, support to Client team, and discipline participation for execution of awarded scopes. Experience in Petrochemical plant design and Pipelines design is required.


  • Inter-action with client, company management and other disciplines to develop the control, safety and monitoring systems and instrumentation philosophies per the above criteria
  • Develop FEED & EPC packages suitable for client review, Contractor bidding and selection
  • Review all relevant other discipline documentation and participate in the development of the P&IDs
  • Issue material requisitions to the Procurement Department for enquiry, order placement and for any subsequent revisions
  • Prepare the Master Requisition Index and update and issue it on a regular basis
  • Review Vendors' quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation
  • Technically approve Order Variation Summaries
  • Hold co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required carry out technical investigations, produce technical reports, engineering standards and procedures
  • Assist in the development and training of Client's personnel when requested
  • Review the project execution developed by the Cost and Planning Department

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of twelve years of experience in Instrumentation or C&I Engineering environment in project execution
  • A minimum of five years’ brownfield modification project experience
  • A minimum of two years’ site experience
  • Smart Plant Instrumentation and or MS Access
  • Prior experience in developing FEED’s and Engineering Flow Diagrams (P&IDs)
