Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to work in al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This position will be on the Sadara Enterprise project and is scheduled to run for approximately twelve months.


Sadara Chemical Company have selected Wood to support an EPCM requirement for enhancements to their operational facilities in Jubail. The role is for a Senior Telecoms Engineer to support a small multi-discipline engineering team in Al Khobar. The role involves preparation of Proposals and work packs for minor capital and maintenance projects, support to Client team, and discipline participation for execution of awarded scopes. Experience in Petrochemical plant design and Pipelines design is required.


  • The successful candidate should have a proven track record of working on FEED & EPC projects for oil & gas facilities
  • Experience of working on Saudi Aramco projects as PMC to support the client would be beneficial
  • Provide telecommunication discipline expertise in support of the client’s team for the FEED engineering of the petrochemical facilities
  • Should be able to work independently
  • Co-ordinate with other disciplines to complete the telecommunications design
  • Be commercially aware and conscious of contractual issues as per Amec Foster Wheeler guidelines
  • Full knowledge of the following telecommunication systems: LAN network, PABX, CCTV, Radio System, PAGA, Ethernet wireless, SDH / PDH systems and Weather Monitoring Systems, to be able to develop FEED and details engineering specifications
  • Design and installation of OSP cabling and communication hardware

Skills / Qualifications

  • An Engineering Degree qualification is essential
  • A minimum of twelve years of experience in Telecommunications Engineering in project execution
  • A minimum of five years’ brownfield modification project experience
  • A minimum of two years’ site experience
  • Postgraduate qualifications in the relevant engineering discipline is preferred
  • The Communication or Network Engineer shall have a minimum of twelve years’ experience in relevant telecommunication and IT work
  • Certified designer for outside plant cabling or BICSI certified and a copy of such certification shall be attached to the candidate’s resume
  • Knowledge of international codes and specs for safety critical systems would be beneficial
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status preferred
