Overview / Responsibilities

Wood  is currently recruiting for a Building Services Designer in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will provide building services support to the project management team that has proven expertise in managing large, complex projects with a global reach.


We have been awarded contracts by our client for the provision of engineering and project management services for their Unconventional Gas Development Program. The program covers current field development in three different parts of Saudi Arabia with potential further field developments to be added later as the program develops and expands. The Unconventional Gas Development Program is focused on increasing gas production via the development of shale gas and tight gas resources in the Kingdom. The new sources of gas are intended to displace middle and heavy distillate fuels currently used in power generation within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 


  • Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable project procedures and standards, within the man-hour and cost budgets and the project schedule targets
  • Develop utilities, heating and ventilation drawings
  • Coordinate execution of CAD drafting tasks as defined by the Project Engineers
  • Liaise with Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Building Services Project Discipline Engineers to verify interpretation of engineering CAD drafting requirements
  • Be completely familiar with the project CAD drafting requirements
  • Ensure the procedures and work practices listed in the Project Engineering Quality Plan are applied as appropriate
  • Produce project Detailed Diagrams Mechanical / HVAC / Fire Protection Layout / Plumbing / Piping Layouts and Isometrics accordance with process and project engineering requirements
  • Assist the Building Service Design Engineers through the issue of and other design documents, or any other reasonable task requested by the Engineer
  • Be familiar with the requirements of the project schedule and expedite the project design deliverables accordingly
  • Generate drawing / prepare as built drawing / checking layouts as per Aramco Standard and assist Discipline Engineers with the transfer of records to storage, microfilming and for destruction
  • Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance
  • Participate in and advice on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training/inductions and documentation review
  • Verify that all designs are to required standards and that the objectives of the project are met
  • Verify that the works is completed to the agreed schedule

Skills / Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mechanical, Fire Fighting, HVAC, Plumbing for Industrial Buildings in oil and gas industry
  • Strong working knowledge of MircoStation, Smartplant, Autocad, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is essential
  • Three years in an Aramco or GCC region project environment in a leading Engineering Company
  • Wood experience preferred
