Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking to recruit a competent Senior / Lead Engineer – Piping to join our team. In this role, you will be assigned in overall management of the activities of all Piping / Pipeline Engineering Personnel assigned to the ZOR project in Kuwait, London, and in all embedded EPC locations. Overall single point of contact for coordination with PMT on all aspects of project piping / pipeline engineering and together with EPC Piping / Pipeline Engineers as appropriate, to ensure contract scope requirements are met. Ensure all Piping / Pipeline Engineering Personnel on ZOR are competent to perform their duties relating to the scope of work as identified in the contract. Ensure that project procedures, practices and systems, necessary for executing the PMC project scope are followed by the Piping / Pipeline Engineering Team. Review EPC deliverables as advised by project. Confirm that ZOR piping / pipeline team is resourced with the skills, knowledge and numbers required to deliver the PMC scopes as per the contract.

  

  • Overall administration of ZOR AmecFW Piping / Pipeline Engineering Group
  • Provide overall support and act as necessary for London and EPC based Lead Piping / Pipeline Engineers
  • Manage the overall review of piping / pipeline documents carried out by the Lead Engineer
  • Advise PMC core management on issues surrounding future appointments of Al ZOR Piping / Pipeline Engineering personnel
  • Ensure that all PMC Piping / Pipeline Engineers work to project procedures, specifications and standards, good engineering practices and techniques, and any project-specific requirements
  • Supervise the day to day engineering interfaces between PMC and PMT core engineering group, Project Managers, Engineering Coordinators and the engineering teams assigned to the EPC package –  includes interaction with all other specialist disciplines as required
  • Act as single point interface between Piping / Pipeline Group, project design and engineering services, and oversee & review piping / pipeline work executed in the London and / or EPC contractor offices as appropriate
  • Participate in local Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Project Health, Safety and Environment Review (PHSER) exercises for the EPC Projects during detailed engineering and ensuring recommendation of such exercises obtain KNPC approval as relevant
  • Participate in design reviews and engineering changes with customer and EPC contractor as necessitated by design development and ensure Engineering Manager and Project Managers are made aware of these
  • Participate in key customer reviews and meetings as required
  • Participate in project reviews, value engineering, and value improvement workshops with customer / contractor
  • Provide input to Engineering Manager regarding Piping / Pipeline Engineering Procedures and work practices as appropriate
  • Develop close working relationships between all engineering group members, Project Managers, projects team and EPC staff to ensure a consistent approach and effective resolution of issues
  • Develop a good team spirit within all ZOR PMC Piping / Pipeline Engineering Personnel and encourage team working with the Contractor and other disciplines as appropriate
  • Undertake regular reviews of ZOR project procedures and carry out audits at all EPC locations

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years+ in similar position
  • 15 years+ experience in PMC / EPC organizations in the field of refinery / petrochemicals industries in piping / pipeline engineering, in major projects of value not less than US$500 million
  • Strong strategic thinking ability
  • Mentoring and coaching ability
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, particularly the ability to communicate in a multidisciplinary context
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
