Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Site Welding Inspector with experience in the Mining and Minerals industry to be based on Site in Mauritania.

 

  • Ensure that the site welding procedures are available and approved
  • Audit site construction welding activities
  • Conduct surveillance on site suppliers / contractors for welding records and registers
  • Review and approve site supplier documentation, e.g. Welding, NDE, etc.
  • Control site WPS’S / PQR’S / WPQR’S
  • Review and approve site data packages prior to handover to Client with respect to welding processes
  • Prepare regular project welding status reports. HSSE Responsibilities 
  • Read, understand and obey the HSSE policies arrangements / procedures and rules as issued
  • Work in accordance with method statements and risk assessments as provided
  • Take care of your own health and safety whilst at work; and ensure your activities do not adversely affect the health and safety of others
  • Report to immediate supervisor all incidents, which have or could result in personal injury or environmental damage

Skills / Qualifications

  • Recognised welding trade with at least 10 years’ experience as a welding supervisor
  • Qualified to assess weld X-rays to the highest level
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of quality management systems
  • Good knowledge of welding procedures and processes particularly exotic materials
  • Knowledge and experience in working in remote locations in Africa
  • Highly literate to ensure the clearest communication both verbally and written
  • Ability to communicate in French or Arabic would be an advantage
