Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler has an opportunity for a Marine HSSE Lead. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian market. As a result of this, HSSE Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool.


  • Support the Beyond Zero ethos of Amec Foster Wheeler; Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSSE management system and progress against the Amec Foster Wheeler HSSE Performance Standards. Make recommendations for improvement where appropriate
  • Provide assistance and advice to the Project Manager / Location Manager with responsibility for HSSE
  • Ensure that marine spread vessel meet their ISM and ISPS code obligations; Ensure compliance with any and all HSSE obligations imposed by BSP in the head contract, together with any and all applicable AFW HSSE rules
  • Manage the BSP ‘Goal Zero’ safety initiative as would relate to the marine spread, and would also initiate and manage in-house safety incentive initiatives, and safety passport schemes relating to the marine crew
  • Monitor LTIs, near misses and incidents relating to the marine spread vessels and marine crews, would attend project HIRA meetings, some vessel safety meetings and would monitor vessel related JSA’s and dynamic risk assessments
  • Manager marine spread HSSE interfaces as set out on the HSSE bridging (Interface document); Monitor and manage the process of getting approved Combined Operations Safety Cases (COSC) for applicable vessels, and for expediting and managing any changes in COSCs that may be required due to changes in operational circumstances offshore
  • Contribute towards developing annual HSSE objectives for [contract / project / location]. Monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness
  • Assist with the identification of HSSE training needs and monitor delivery and recording
  • Monitor and report on the implementation of the approved HSSE objectives
  • Produce HSSE performance reports as required; Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents. Where appropriate, be involved in the investigation and ensure that the findings are reported and appropriately shared
  • Review accident and incident reports.  Identify any trends and ensure that there is appropriate response to prevent future occurrence
  • Planning, coordination and delivery of internal audits for [contract / project / location]. Close out of assurance actions in a timely manner ensuring that findings are reported and shared appropriately and opportunities for improvement sought
  • Part of Emergency Response organization for Project. Maintain compliance with HSSE legislative requirements, provide updates as required. Writing of technical documents such as procedures, management documents, investigation reports and audits.
  • Cross site visits to provide support, coaching, collaboration and best practice
  • Participate in HSSE Function Away Days; Provide support to Function and / or other projects as necessary; Provide cover for other HSSE personnel

Skills / Qualifications

  • Suitable and relevant experience in a Marine HSSE Lead role within the Oil & Gas or Marine industry, preference toward international offshore HUC HSSE experience. 
  • Advance Diploma in OSH
  •  International recognised tertiary qualification
  • NEBOSH International Certificate
  • International Ship and Port Facility Security qualification
  • International Safety Management Code Qualification
  • Lead Auditor qualified across all elements of the HSSE scope 18001, 14001, 31000 and 9001. Preferably qualified under RABQSA
  • Incident Investigation qualified (Taproot, ICam, Beta)
  • STCW-95
  • Seaman's logbook
  • International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) certificate
  • BOISET - desirable
  • MIST – desirable
  • First Aid - desirable
