  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is recruiting for a Duty Security Officer to join our team in Reading on a staff basis in April 2018. 



    • Provide security services at Shinfield Park 24 hours a day, every day of the year
    • Conduct investigations where necessary
    • Liaise with emergency and other police services when necessary
    • Engage with visitors and the public in a professional manner that represents the company Core Values and global standing


    • Demonstrate good customer skills and interact with customers in a professional and positive manner
    • Fulfil customer requests efficiently and in a timely manner
    • Good knowledge of relevant Procedures and Work Practices
    • Maintain an up to date working knowledge of relevant key systems and processes in order to efficiently carry out duties:
      1. Access Control System
      2. Fire prevention/alarm systems
      3. Public address systems
      4. CCTV systems
    • Demonstrate due diligence at all times in patrols, during and out of office hours
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be Physically Fit. (External and internal patrols take place, plus staircase and fire door checks over a 6 floor building)
    • Be able to work using own initiative, both alone and part of a team
    • Be able to demonstrate basic PC skills

    This is a 12 hour shift position working 6am-6pm. 4 days on, 2 days off. 


    Skills / Qualifications

    • First aid trained within the first three months of employment
    • Defibrillator trained within the first three months of employment
    • Experience in a supervisory role
    • Experience working 24/7 shift patterns
    • Experience of dealing with the public politely and professionally
    • Use of software-based CCTV and proximity access control systems
    • Ex- Military an advantage but not a necessity
