Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an Associate Director/Technical Director to join our Environment and Infrastructure consultancy business delivering Environmental Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments and Sustainability Appraisals across the UK, with this role will having specific focus on London, South East and the Midlands.

Skills / Qualifications

The role requires excellent reporting and communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, seeking technical input from other disciplines to deliver carefully considered solutions to produce high quality work.

  • At least 10 years experience of the management and delivery of EIAs across a range of sectors.   
  • A degree (or equivalent), in a relevant environmental discipline
  • A postgraduate qualification in environmental science/planning (or related field of study) would be beneficial
  • Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or other relevant professional body.


Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Directing and managing the delivery of EIAs for a range of major projects to support applications under both Development Consent Order (DCO) and the Town & Country Planning Act (TCPA) planning regimes.  
  • Authoring and reviewing chapters of Environmental Statements and EIA supporting documentation
  • Working with other technical teams and co-ordinating technical inputs
  • Undertaking consultation with stakeholders, including involvement in the planning and delivery of exhibitions and other public consultation events.
  • Line managing a small team of EIA specialists and other consultants responsible for delivering a portfolio of EIAs to different market sectors
  • Supporting regional business development through the identification and development of new opportunities
