  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently looking for Senior Principal Designer - Electrical to be part of the Engineering team to be based at our Kolkata Office. This is highly strategic role within the department and the ideal candidate will be at Principal or Lead level in their career. Extensive years of experience within the industry in a similar role and provide strong leadership and technical expertise preferred.


    • Supervise and participate the (discipline) designing activities on a small to large project
    • Produce design work in conformance with applicable codes and standards
    • Lead and discipline designers in a project task force ensuring project procedures, standards, quality and schedule
    • Require comprehensive knowledge in areas of expertise and a good understanding of how (discipline) design integrates into and impacts the complete project
    • Participate in departmental planning for 3D model set up in Co-ordination with CAD-operation, 2D CAD set-up, CAD compliance
    • Responsible for closing model review comments following project procedure
    • Responsible for addressing / resolving RDB conflicts, model clash related issues working in tandem with inter discipline and overseas lead center counterpart
    • Participate in MTO estimation effort of FEED and detail engineering projects
    • Responsible for job assignment for designers during execution stage 
    • Participate in the engineering meeting and Design review sessions on projects
    • Review vendor drawings and incorporates features in the execution of his work
    • Assist Department Manager in growth planning for the designers, designing support during proposals, estimating man-hour for deliverables
    • Suggest and justify design improvements
    • Provide drafting guidance, training and advice to other designers
    • Accept both short and long-term assignments to the domestic and overseas offices, sites, Client's offices, as required

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Electrical Engineering Diploma / ITI certificate in draftsmanship
    • 25+ years of experience & exposure in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Oil & Gas / Power / Mining & Metal sector projects on developments of layouts for 2D & 3D environment, Layouts, Substation, Switchyard design etc.
    • Should be proficient in English language, written & verbal and have experience in peer to peer communication with overseas personnel independently on project work
    • Should be expert in Micro station, AutoCAD, PDS, PDMS, CAD Works, SP3D, E3D (Raceway modelling, equipment modelling, MTO extraction etc.) SPR, SPEL Navisworks, Orthogen, Drawing Manager, MS-Office
