Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Construction Manager/Site Superintendent to manage a large electrical distribution/solar project at a DOD base on an island in the Pacific. This position will lead an onsite team responsible for managing staff and subcontractors to deliver a successful project; to ensure all cost, schedule, safety, and quality goals are achieved.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager by managing subcontractors and foremen to ensure timely and quality completion of contracted work
  • Ensure work conforms to contract documents, project plans, and specifications
  • Review daily subcontractor construction reports and take action as necessary
  • Prepare daily project reports based on subcontractors, trades, and material vendors
  • Proactively address issues to maintain the project schedule and project budget
  • Create and manage project schedules; to include baseline development, status updates, and detailed short-range look ahead schedule
  • Supervise inspection, testing, and final punch out in accordance with quality control plan
  • Review subcontractor invoices versus subcontract schedule of values, percent complete of work completed, and material utilized
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, and suppliers
  • Lead and/or attend regular construction meetings to support efficient communication among project stakeholders
  • Plan and direct site mobilization/demobilization activities
  • Timely and accurately report all worksite quality in accordance with quality control plan
  • Immediate, accurate reporting of all project safety incidents; Promote safe work practices with the intent of preventing injuries; Ensure work is executed in accordance with site accident prevention plan and activity hazard analyses.; Deliver safety briefings as appropriate

Skills / Qualifications

Required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with onsite supervision of construction on federal facilities
  • Project history demonstrating successful support of federal projects of greater than $10 Million
  • Experience with US Federal Government projects, contracts, codes, policies, and procedures
  • Experience with remote construction sites
  • Extensive experience with construction/renovation of medium voltage distribution systems and solar arrays
  • Knowledgeable of industry codes and standards, as well as basic construction materials, and means and methods
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a relevant Engineering field
  • Completion of OSHA 30 hour safety course
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or other similar certifications
  • Completion of USACE CQM course in the last five years
