Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has been awarded a large PMC Duqm Refinery project in Oman which is expected to run for around 4 years. We are expected to start mobilizing successful candidates as soon as possible. Successful candidate will be based in Chennai, India and once work at the EPC location has been completed, employee will be transferred to the Oman site to work on a residential status assignment if requested by the client.

  • Recruit and appoint / assign Senior Contract Engineers, Contracts Engineers and Contract Administrator to project teams during execution phase
  • Ensure the conformity of project specific tender / contract documents with department procedures and that the proposed conditions of contracts, form of tender, preambles and other commercial terms have been reviewed for consistency
  • Ensure that the requirements of AmecFW Compliance Manual are appropriately incorporated within construction contracts
  • Maintain satisfactory relations between client and AmecFW staff in matters relating to construction contracts
  • Operate within approved budgets
  • Ensure an international registry of construction contractors, including performance data is maintained
  • Ensure completeness of projects’ construction contracts records and co-ordinate statistical feedback and data gathering
  • Develop and upkeep of computerized system for gathering detailed construction cost information / data
  • Ensure construction contracts library is maintained
  • Participate in the selection and development of computer based systems and their applications and use in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement department’s activities
  • Promote policy for close technical co-operation with all departments in furthering both corporate and project specific objectives, including execution strategies
  • Arrange discipline audits in accordance with company policy and provide feedback to Manager Operations
  • Review measures / procedures for effective claims avoidance during the stages for selection of contractors for construction work and / or services
  • Plan for success, monitor performance, take initiatives and, where necessary intervene to avoid mistakes and mitigate delays and unforeseen expense
  • Provide the construction contracts administrative data in support of the contracts department

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar diploma
  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industries
  • Previous experience of handling contract administration of major projects of over US $500 Million each
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret contract terms, conditions and specifications, knowledge of quality control and assurance functions, methods of progress measurements and verification, together with variation management and the final account process
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) desirable
