  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood currently has a requirement on our Duqm Refinery Project for a Senior QAQC Engineer. This is an opportunity for you to become a valuable, well-rounded member of an experienced team, with the successful candidate taking responsibility for coordinating and managing EPC Contractor issues and deliverables on a large grass roots refinery new-build project in Oman, for which Wood has been contracted to perform the role of Project Management Consultant.


    Position will initially be required in Chennai, India until site work starts in Duqm site and would need to relocate to Oman site.


    Position will be on single status.


    • Perform duties on assigned package and interacts with EPC’s Senior QAQC Engineers as required
    • Manage the quality control and surveillance plan activities for his respected unit, assigns planned surveillance activities to his respective inspectors as required or may perform the duties himself if time permits
    • Hold weekly meetings with his EPC’s Quality Managers / Subcontractors as required
    • Provide weekly, bi-weekly or monthly quality reports to PMC Quality Manager for issuance to company
    • Manage the assigned PMC Quality Control Inspectors under his respected package, Civil, Mechanical, Welding and Electrical
    • Chair weekly Quality Meeting with his own PMC Quality Control staff for his individual unit, for any issues and concerns
    • Attend PMC construction meetings for his respected package or unit with any issues concerns and corrective actions that may need to be highlighted to the PMC Project Manager of his respective unit
    • Direct reporting line back to PMC Quality Manager for any and all quality issues as required
    • Assist PMT / company as required

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Fifteen years of total experience
    • Five years’ experience in similar quality position
    • B.S. in Engineering or similar
    • Fully conversant with quality systems applicable for major refinery project and direct participation in quality audits is essential
    • Must have worked for an engineering contractor, PMC or owners’ organization engaged in design, engineering, procurement and construction of major oil / gas projects from FEED through EPC phases of the project
    • Further, must have supplier quality control and assurance systems, procedures etc. for major refinery project
    • Familiarity and involvement in projects in the Middle East is an advantage
