Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood are looking for a Civils Clerk of Works (Contractor) for approx 3 months to assist on an Overhead Lines Project in South Ayreshire reporting directly to the Site Manager.


This is a site based role working a 12 day fortnight and will involve work in winter conditions at altitude and accessing work site sites on uneven and restricted terrain. Access to work locations via ladders may be required.  A commercial vehicle will be provided.


Scope of Work

  • To act as an independent inspector, ensuring that all civil works are constructed and maintained to the contract design and specification
  • To acts as a central point of contact for the clients site representative in regard to all construction matters on site
  • To liaise with the construction and engineering team
  • To ensure all work team supervisors are compliant with HSSE requirements with particular attention paid to environmental mitigation
  • To provide independent oversight and guidance to the Temporary Works Supervisors
  • To report back to the Site Manager on a daily basis on the progress, issues and any HSSE Matters


Skills / Qualifications

  • 10-15yrs minimum Civil Engineering experience as a Senior Site Engineer or Clerk of Works
  • Background in road construction, groundworks, deep excavation, earthworks is essential
  • Temporary Works Supervisor experience
  • SMSTS (Site Managers Safety Training Scheme) – Preferred,
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) – Essential
  • Environmental Qualifications would be beneficial
  • Experience managing work teams would be beneficial
  • Experience managing quality procedures would be beneficial
  • Full Driving License Required
