Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

 

Wood is seeking applications from experienced Principal / Lead Control System Engineers for a major resource project in based in our Perth Office. The successful candidate with join a small dynamic team to complete the feasibility study of a significant West Australian resource project, with the possibility of carrying through to detailed design.

The successful applicant will have excellent communications backed by strong technical skills. They will be need to interface with both the Wood project team and the client to understand the business needs and deliver optimal solutions. As such they will require a sound understanding of current industry practices and available technologies.

 Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical direction for all control, information communications systems and instrumentation
  • Review and recommend appropriate control platforms
  • Review and recommend appropriate communications networks
  • Review all study I&C deliverables
  • Lead a small team of Engineers and Designers to complete I&C Engineering to support the feasibility cost estimate
  • Review and update I&C Design Criteria
  • Prepare high quality, technically correct specifications and datasheets for major equipment
  • Mange I&C team progress against the project schedule
  • Track and report progress
  • Responsible for discipline scope and change management
  • Ensure team compliance with Wood standards and work systems
  • Foster good client relationship
  • Conduct cost/benefit trade-off desktop studies and make recommendations on the most appropriate solution
  • Provide technical support and input to project technical direction
  • Provide feedback to the Project Engineering Manager on progress, budget and schedule
  • Ensure design complies with relevant Australian and International Standard and regulatory requirements

 

Skills / Qualifications

  • Engineering / Computer Science Degree
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia
  • 15+ years’ experience in the mineral processing industry
  • Sound understanding of Controls, Information and Communications Systems
  • Ability to lead a small team, meet deadlines and promote and excellent team environment
  • Desire and ability to coach younger engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with other disciplines and client
  • Estimating experience/knowledge highly regarded
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs
  • Excellent understanding of relevant Australian and International standards
  • Ability to travel to site if required
