Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Plant Performance Director. Responsible for business development, strategy, implementation, and technical delivery oversight of our plant performance, system health, equipment reliability, maintenance optimisation and asset integrity work streams.

 

The Wood New Nuclear and Generation Services business provides engineering, consultancy, technical services, safety case and project management support to our customers’ operations within the nuclear sector as well as into non-nuclear sectors where our capabilities are transferrable. We have long term relationships with several major clients in the civil nuclear industries and opportunities to work across a variety of nuclear projects at all stages of the project life cycle.

 

You will be joining an organisation that delivers integrated customer solutions that draw upon the global Wood skills base and our supply chain partners. Reporting to the Director, Generation Services, you will build on an existing strong business stream with existing and new customers to identify and implement value-adding solutions to maximise the life of their current assets.

 

Location ideally Knutsford/Birchwood or Gloucester but may consider Gosforth.   Need to be mobile and prepared to travel to customer locations, with the potential for supporting delivery of work in those locations as well as base location.

 

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Health and Safety leadership
  • Profitable delivery of projects and tasks
  • Working with customers at both strategic and tactical levels to understand their needs, the condition and nature of their assets and then to tailor/develop Wood plant performance products, services and solutions to meet their needs.
  • Plant performance technical interface with wider Nuclear and Wood colleagues
  • Implementation of services, products and solutions to address customer needs
  • Project delivery to key Customer accounts, driving priorities through to outcomes, ensuring performance of the delivery team and key customer requirements are being met.
  • Agreed revenues and profits including growth of the work streams through leading technical discussions with clients and associated business development activities
  • Defining the forward capability requirements and approach to deliver our plans and supporting the development of capabilityActual deliverables:

  • Monthly Accountability Report including progress against forecasts, risks and opportunities
  • Strategies, proposals and implementation plans
  • Key Customer deliverables

 

Skills / Qualifications

Experience

  • Background in plant engineering e.g. asset integrity management, reliability improvements, maintenance management
  • Outline knowledge of plant condition monitoring, plant inspection techniques, statutory inspection requirements (e.g. under PSSR) etc would be advantageous
  • Candidates for this position must have proven and demonstrable project delivery skills and have operated at senior leadership positions within related business sectors
  • Knowledge of industry good/best practices associated with the optimisation and extension of ageing assets
  • Considerable experience in one or a number of technical disciplines associated with plant performance/optimisation and equipment reliability, in either or both nuclear and non-nuclear (e.g. process or power sector) contexts
  • An ability to develop future business opportunities
  • Effective management of project delivery teams

 

Qualifications

  • Recognised professional and a member of an appropriate Institution
  • A university degree in an appropriate subject is desirab
