Overview / Responsibilities

 

Wood is recruiting for a Project Manager to provide: co-ordination; management of projects and support to the Head of Programme Office within our Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) organisation.

This role provides project and programme support on technically complex, time critical tasks within the independent assurance programme of work. The role involves elements of programme management, supporting The Head of Programme Office in the delivery of the larger programme and the Chief Engineer in technical task co-ordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Chief Engineer and other team members produce and maintain task baselines (scope, cost and schedules) including supporting production and update of the Delivery Schedule.
  • Lead the production of proposals and tenders in accordance with client requirements and Wood’s commercial requirements
  • Proactively lead the monitor and control of projects to ensure they are being delivered to budget and schedule.
  • Provide robust financial and project reporting
  • Develop, maintain and manage project risk registers
  • Identify and manage of change control
  • Proactively interact and collaborate with members of the project team.
  • Support the timely preparation of monthly dashboards for the attention of the customer’s management team
  • Lead the focus on customer care, liaising with customer representatives and a commitment to delivering on promises
  • Support the Head of Programme Office in managing the programme, including undertaking wider contract and programme reporting.
  • Liaising with the Planners to ensure good resource management and highlighting where there are issues and working with the Cost Engineer to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Demonstrate a focus on stakeholder management, liaising with client representatives and a commitment to delivering on promises
  • Ensure appropriate governance is applied to the project from tender through to execution and close out

 

Skills / Qualifications

  • General engineering, technical or business qualification, graduate level or equivalent
  • Project Management experience in an engineering, technical or business project or programme environment is desirable, but not essential
  • Knowledge of the project subject matter ie. research, technical, engineering is desirable, but not essential
  • Knowledge of Project Management process and techniques (APM Qualifications ideally and a desire to progress in these).
  • Operating knowledge of standard Microsoft IT packages
  • Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in project teams
  • Experience of line management responsibility desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to obtain an SC security clearance essential
  • Due to the nature of the work involved UK Citizenship is essential
