  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil 3D Information Modelling Consultant with a good level of BIM experience to work in either our London, Leamington Spa or Bristol offices supporting our Civil Engineering discipline and report to the sector lead. They will also support the company’s advancing BIM methodology or as we call it Digital Delivery implementation and CAD strategy.


    The candidate would hold a high level of experience using Autodesk Civil 3D to support high quality 3D collaborative and accurately coordinated modelling. This must include coordinating dynamic alignments, collaborative work flow, visualisation, analysis, automate profiling, setting up of country packs and geo template. They must also have experience of manipulating survey data to apply ground modelling, automated profile sections and embedded dynamic data. 4D simulation, GIS and Project Wise knowledge or experience would be seen as favourable. The candidate must also demonstrate a developing prowess of civil engineering experience in either of the following sectors; Waste, Energy, Commercial, Industrial, Transport and Highways, and Major Infrastructure.  Experience in projects working across different stages of the project lifecycle is preferred, including feasibility and preliminary design through to construction and beyond, as well as working in multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate of civil and non-civil designs.


    The candidate will support other CAD experts, mentor junior CAD development and support internal development. Knowledge in supporting a BEP within a CDE would be favourable.


    Responsibilities & Duties 

    • Technical expertise in 3D modelling using AutoDesk Civil 3D
    • Mentor local junior CAD technicians helping them drive excellent standard authoring capability and deliverables
    • Support the wider regional team in application of the 3D coordination, clash detection and digital review process
    • Management of regional CAD team communications and coordination
    • Preparation and Delivery of templates, user coordinate systems, system organisation.
    • Provide value driven guidance on best application of 2D or 3D CAD
    • Ability to engage and manipulate digital survey data such as point cloud surveys and DTM’s
    • Appreciation of GIS and interoperability (beneficial)
    • Appreciation of BIM Rooms for Digital Review (beneficial)
    • 4D Simulation, Augmented reality, 5D Cost Modelling capability (beneficial)
    • Project Wise (beneficial)



    Skills / Qualifications

    • Appropriate qualifications
    • Good level of either Civil Structures, Highways, Drainage, Ground Modelling
    • Good level with Navis Works and or Syncro to support review and 4D
    • Experienced 2D cost effective deliverables automated from the BIM model
    • Experience with 3D Volume/Decision modelling (beneficial)
    • Other CAD software Bentley, Autodesk software (beneficial)
    • Microsoft office experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • An appreciation of PAS1192 especially CDE processes (beneficial)
    • Good communication skills and work ethics
    • Ability to go the extra mile with a team ethos
