Wood is recruiting for a Project Manager to sit within our Consultancy business, there is an exciting opportunity available for a skilled and experienced Project Manager, to be based at our Birchwood office, in Warrington.

The Consultancy business sits within our Nuclear business unit and offers specialist consultancy services, primarily in the nuclear industry. We offer specialist science and engineering services and facilities including extensive rig hall space which allows for the development, testing and proving of specialist technical solutions for our Customers.

We are looking for a Project Manager to ensure the business reaches its targets by ensuring effective management of tenders, projects and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct interface with Clients to develop business opportunities, build relationships and clearly communicate on project progress and any variations
• The delivery of tenders as bid manager, supported where necessary by engineers, planners and cost engineers, to deliver written tender submissions, including estimates and programmes
• The management and delivery of projects safely, to quality standards, on time and to budget
• Proactive and adaptable approach suited to the diverse and challenging nature of the business
• Prepare formal monthly progress reports and present to the business for review
• Participating in the development and improvement of Project Management performance within the business

• Experience of project delivery in similar environments
• Experience in managing multiple small projects, multidisciplinary projects, design and build projects and on site projects would be advantageous
• A good understanding of project planning, including scope management, Breakdown Structures, estimating and scheduling
• A good understanding of Project Control, including cost control, schedule adherence, risk management and change management
• Ability to participate in, and influence, commercial decision making
• Ownership of project finances, with the ability to manage budgets, provide forecasts and deliver profit
• Ability to effectively form and lead teams and motivate staff
• An understanding of the legal, tendering and contract processes to support the success of the business
• Experience of participating in negotiations with both clients and the supply chain would be advantageous
• Experience of manufacture, commissioning and site based implementation activities would be advantageous
• Degree qualified in a related discipline
• Knowledge of the engineering and safety case work within the nuclear industry or related industries would be advantageous
