Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently have an opportunity for a Electrical CAD Technician to based at the the UKPN offices in Horsham. The scope of projects will be for Substations, Cabling and Overhead Lines Design.




Drawings mark-ups

  • CAD drawings updated upon receipt of mark-ups received from site
  • Mark-ups produced by designers are used to update (or create new) CAD drawing(s)
  • Items 1 & 2 are done in line with the milestones & dates within the Primavera P6 Project Monitoring


Drawings templates - Project Specific

  • Designer identifies drawings (each drawing with its title). CAD Technician creates the template for each of the identified drawing and inserts it into the Project Wise file for that Project that he/she creates & maintains.
  • Above is done in line with the P6 milestones & dates.


Bulk Printing

  • Print out latest drawings to be sent to site.
  • Above is done within P6 milestones & timescales.
  • Management of sent & received design drawings
  • Prepare the latest completed design package ready to be sent out (2 copies).
  • Above is done within P6 Milestones & dates.
  • Received Project drawings (from Manufacturers & “others”) are all stored in Project Wise.
  • Proactively chases up return of drawings (from Manufacturer & “others”) to meet P6 milestones & dates.
  • Proactively liaise with designers on ensuring latest drawings are ready to be sent out.


Drawings Transmittals & Register (what have we sent “out”)

  • Drawings register & transmittal of what has been sent “out” (to Manufacturer, Alliance Delivery Member or on site for installation/commissioning) is completed and pdf’s are on shared drive (Alfresco or Active Projects) - CAD’s (source drawings) are in Project Wise.
  • Have an active involvement (as required) to improve the design document control system and use of Alfresco. 

Skills / Qualifications


  • CAD Eexperience
  • AutoCAD, Revit 3D, Microstation expeperience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills



  • Experience in T&D sectors
  • Prior DNO experience an asset
