Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in the nuclear industry.

Senior Project Manager sets the project execution strategies and uses a multi discipline project team to deliver the project safely in line with company policy achieving established goals and objectives within the agreed baseline.

 

To deputise for the Framework/Site Manager in accordance with Amec Foster Wheeler arrangements, the scope of the contract and within the core skills and training required for the role.

 

For the purpose of deputising for this role the Framework/site manager is the most senior person put in charge by AFW to manage their work within this designated operations business.

 

Lead, guide and monitor their site organisation in the management and supervision of tasks to ensure health and safety at work and the protection of the environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Mobilising the project team to programme to deliver the portfolio of work.
  • Identifying, implementing and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality, company procedures, policies, legislative, regulatory, requirements.
  • Developing, maintaining, reporting and trending accurate project baselines across the portfolio.
  • Maximising within the projects the use of Learning from Experience and disseminating new LFE to the delivery organisation and client as appropriate.
  • Leading and coaching the project team members.
  • Assigning and maintaining competent project team members and acting promptly to industrial relations and HR issues.
  • Providing accurate and timely information and reports regarding the project status, activities and performance.
  • Identifying risks and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Implementing and maintaining an effective and integrated project execution strategy and plan.
  • Implementing and maintaining effective communication to the project teams and stakeholders.
  • Meeting the specified project functional criteria.
  • Controlling scope and cost to the agreed project baseline.

Accountabilities

  • Delivering the portfolio of projects in a safe manner to the specified functional criteria, goals and objectives, compliant with appropriate legislation, Project Execution Procedures and within the approved project baseline, scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Applying an appropriate level of priority for safety and quality to ensure that Nuclear and Conventional Safety is not compromised by delivery.
  • Implementing and maintaining a competent, effective and efficient Integrated Project Teams assessing, authorising and maintaining the competence (SQEP) of the project team (including sub-contractor).
  • Minimising the project risks (threats) and maximising opportunities.
  • Maximising the project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Early identification of issues, concerns that either have the potential or will impact the project baseline.
  • Proposing, agreeing, implementing and reporting corrective actions to secure the project baseline.

 

Skills / Qualifications

Degree educated, ideally in engineering or related subject

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification
  • APM Level D and preferably level C.
  • IOSH managing safety would be an advantage
  • Ideally a successful candidate shall have experience of project managing multi discipline projects (Mechanical, Civil & structural and EC & I) on a Nuclear Licensed Site with strong safety culture
  • To act as coach/mentor to develop Junior PM’s
