  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood has an opportunity for a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian market. As a result of this, Civil Engineering Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool.

     

    • Report to Project Engineering Manager / Project Manager / Department Manager, the main functions of the role will be to engage in discussions with Clients’ representative and ensuring all project deliverables are applied consistently
    • Share the activities among the project assigned Civil team members and ensure that proper information are available at any stage of the work
    • Discuss with the Client representative / s technical problems which may arise during project development. Critical matters affecting cost and schedule should be reported to the Engineering Manager and / or the Project Manager
    • Ensure that the Civil project team have implemented consistently all comments in the project deliverables and ensuring they are included in the next revision issue of documents and drawings
    • Prepare and / or check critical design calculations and specifications and requisitions as directed by the project Lead Civil Engineer
    • Check and / or approve all Civil related documents and drawings produced in the project, before issue as directed by the project Lead Civil Engineer / Departmental Manager
    • Work on Onshore O & G projects within a multi-discipline team environment at all stages from Feasibility to Detailed Engineering and Construction
    • Work alongside other Civil & Structural Engineers
    • Direct and supervise Civil & Structural Designers in the preparation of technical drawings

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Degree in Civil Engineering (for Civil / Structural Works) or B.S. Architecture (for Architectural Works), Registered Professional in any Accredited Professional Entity / Country, with at least 8 years of experience in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Power / Pharmaceutical Plant Projects
    • Knowledge of Malaysian and International Civil & Structural Codes and Standards, Local CSA Permitting Requirements, Local and International Design Codes and Standards. Must have experience in manpower and CSA design deliverables execution planning and handling
    • Proven technical experience in Civil & Structural Engineering with extensive skills using essential engineering software (e.g., STAAD Pro etc.)
    • Working knowledge of interpreting other discipline technical requirements and be able to provide Civil & Structural design engineering solutions
    • Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
    • Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills
    • Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude and a desire to win
    • Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment that aims at growing mutual trust and teamwork
