Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer - Electrical with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.


  • Prepare equipment specifications
  • Prepare requisitions for inquiry and purchase of equipment, and materials
  • Prepare technical bid tabulations and technical evaluations for equipment materials, bulk commodities and subcontracts in cooperation with procurement department
  • Generate engineering deliverables per project procedures, standards and specifications. Deliver and follow clear direction from the Supervisor and complete technical design work to a high standard
  • Interface inter-discipline related to development of project deliverables
  • Review vendor document and provide comments per scope definition, including review of Motor drawings and Mechanical Packages
  • Check design deliverables produced by Asst. Engineers & Designers to ensure correctness of the document based on established design procedures / standards
  • Check drawings based on established project procedures / standards
  • Direct / observe factory acceptance testing of equipment in cooperation with the procurement department
  • Review engineering flow diagrams and submit comments to Lead Engineer
  • Develop and / or review Control Schematic diagrams, Area Classification drawings, LV & HV Distribution Systems, Electrical Load Lists and Substation Equipment Layouts as required by the discipline
  • Conversant to work with 3D environment for electrical layouts (PDS software & SPR) and review the Cable Raceway, Earthing, Lighting Layout drawings prepared by designers
  • Prepare cable sizing calculations, cable schedules & cable routing
  • Prepare bulk material MTO (Cables & accessories, earthing material, Lighting & JBs)
  • Identify deficiencies and improve changes to establish design methods, standards and data. Improve deficiencies where within scope of role or is able to raise these in the appropriate manner. Respond positively to feedback from others. Continue professional development by attending to in and out of company technical training. Motivate other team members
  • Understand the customer focus with respect to the various contracts (Feasibility, FEED, EPC), be articulate with the commercial impact of design or deliverable that will make on a project. Consider commercial impacts in the designs and work done
  • Produce deliverables on a timely manner, with good quality and technical content. Liaise with the client on technical issues and resolve conflicts

Skills / Qualifications

  • BE / B. Tech / ME / MTech in Electrical Engineering
  • Must have at least 10 to 12 years of experience
  • Industry exposure: Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Oil & Gas / Power
  • Knowledgeable of Software ETAP; capable of preparing System Studies and Relay Setting calculations
  • Must have field experience and capable to resolve queries and issues raised by Site
