Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for a Framework Technical Assistant to be based at our Barnwood office in Gloucester.


The successful applicant will provide technical assistance as requested by Back Office and framework management staff within the business or for clients, within the scope of competencies, and to deliver an acceptable product/outcome to the requester.


The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting Wood’s Nuclear business through helping monitor and inform delivery performance under our key frameworks with major nuclear customers. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop skills and experience within Wood with the potential to develop further along a number of other technical or managerial career paths.  


Skills / Qualifications


  • To support the Wood Generation Services Back Office with the collation, analysis and presentation of framework performance data to meet business stakeholder requirements.
  • To support the operation and maintenance of key Back Office systems and databases, to ensure data is kept up-to-date and data integrity is maintained.
  • To interact with customer Back Offices to exchange information and data, resolve queries and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintains technical competence within discipline/areas of capability.
  • Is aware of and complies with the requirements of the relevant Quality Procedures or standards (e.g. document formats/layouts).
  • Maintains successful working relationships with other Wood staff and, to a limited extent, with customers.
  • Works in a safe and sustainable manner and strives for continuous improvement in these areas.


  • Good general level of education and technical competence in one or more specialised areas (preferably supported by formal qualifications, e.g. A-level, NVQ), such as maths, physics, computing, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of standard IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Office) and knowledgeable of other common IT packages.
  • Seeks to improve quality and efficiency of own work whilst identifying problems with current systems and propose solutions.
  • Can plan own routine work and break down into logical components, to ensure completion to agreed quality and time scales.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other staff and supervisor, and to a limited extent, with customers.
  • The ability to work in customer’s offices / environments and build a rapport with counterparts.
  • It would be beneficial to have (but is not essential):
    • Database experience (fundamentals).
    • SharePoint experience (fundamentals).
