Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a SI-MOPS Coordinator join our team in Turkey on the STAR Project. 


The STAR Aegean Refinery is a greenfield complex crude oil refinery in the Izmir region with the capacity to process 214, 000 barrels of crude oil per day. It comprises various process units including Crude and Vacuum, Coker, MEROX, Hydrocracker, Diesel Hydrotreatment, Naphtha, Amines & SWS, Sulfur and CCR. This project is being executed by an EPC contractor and Wood is delivering Project Management Consultancy services to STAR for this prestige project which is expected to run until the end of 2018.


The activity areas associated with this job can be summarised as:


  • Development (with guidance and support) of SIMOPs procedures and MOPOs
  • Prepare communication packs and other material and roll-out the SIMOPS system
  • Planning & Coordinating SIMOPs activities from Construction to Commissioning and from  Commissioning to Initial Operation as below:
  • Evaluating the information communicated by SIMOPS participants
  • Compare any new SIMOPS activities with current activities to address any potential SIMOPS conflicts and define additional safeguards to ensure safe operations
  • Monitoring & screening all in-field activities to determine need for SIMOPS controls
  • Chairing (PTW &) SIMOPS Planning & Coordination Meetings
  • Supporting SIMOPS related risk assessments
  • Monitoring SIMOPS performance & identifying and implementing improvement opportunities
  • Providing (or directly supporting) SIMOPS induction training

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree 
  • Extensive track record in SI-MOPS coordination activities of large Oil & Gas Downstream Projects – Grass Root Refinery
  • Prior Amec Foster Wheeler or Wood experience is preferred
  • PMT or PMC experience
  • Fluent in English
