Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a HSSE Manager to work out of our office in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This position will be part of our COTC core team and is expected to last for approximately twelve months.

 

Our clients are setting up a new Joint Venture business which will take crude oil and produce a wide range of bulk chemical products. The project will be a first of a kind investment with a fully integrated 600,000 bpd refinery and chemicals complex including two parallel ethylene crackers, and with limited co-production of fuels. All the individual parts of the project will be world scale, and the integration will deliver world beating production efficiency. The TIC is likely to be of the order of $20-$25 Billion making it one of the largest ever single-phase investments in the petrochemicals industry.

 

  • Manage Client HSSE interface. Play a primary role in providing guidance, support and advice regarding HSSE issues
  • Maintain positive relationships with Client Representatives and Project Management to ensure Client and business needs are understood and achieved
  • Monitor compliance against HSSE improvement plans. Demonstrate HSSE leadership
  • Be aware of Client HSSE requirements and Guiding Principles and actively promote adherence with Industry Best Practice
  • Identify and raise any areas of HSSE risk to line management. Assist in the evaluation of, and maintain proactive relationships with, the Supply Chain
  • Monitor current project work scopes and ensure HSSE support is suitably resourced. Ensure robust consultation process with workforce by developing and maintaining strong communication links
  • Monitor compliance to HSE standards; include monitoring client HSE requirements; conduct scheduled field visits and inspections; recommend and follow through on corrective actions
  • Analyze inspection reports; make recommendations and recognize achievements. Assist in the investigation of incidents for root cause identification and preventive action
  • Support new hire orientation process. Support managing control of health and environmental hazards and exposures
  • Monitor the HSE recognition program. Engage in Beyond Zero initiatives
  • Participate in HEART and PTSA auditing. Risk assessments and hazard control measures
  • Audit and inspect. Monitor quality of HSE program and process tools implementation
  • Recognize and reward program support

Skills / Qualifications

  • Significant working experience in HSSE management
  • NEBOSH Certificate 
  • Chartered membership of IOSH
  • Previous experience managing and influencing teams
  • Development of HSSE management systems and site based HSSE execution plans
  • Competent in the use of computer based systems and software
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HSSE legislation and regulations
  • Proven record in risk based inspection and auditing
  • Prior experience in incident reporting and investigating
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills
