  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood (Clean Energy) is recruiting for individuals to join our New Nuclear and Generation Services business to support our existing and new customers. This role will be based at one of our home offices at Knutsford in Cheshire or in Gloucester in Gloucestershire.  In addition to working in our home offices there is an expectation that individuals will be flexible to work at our client sites and in the offices of our clients.


    The Wood New Nuclear and Generation Services business provides specialist engineering, safety case support and project management to our customers’ operations within the Nuclear Sector and we have long term relationships with multiple major clients in the civil nuclear and defence industries. We have opportunities to work across a variety of nuclear projects at all stages of the project life cycle, from initial planning to end of life decommissioning. You will be joining an organisation that delivers an integrated customer solution that draws upon the global Wood skills base.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Experience within the nuclear industry in a technical delivery position
    • A willingness to spend time working on a client site
    • An undergraduate degree in physics, mechanical engineering or other nuclear specific related discipline.
    • Ability to work effectively with a legacy code base (Fortran)
    • A general understanding of the physics of nuclear reactors would be highly beneficial.
    • Experience of working in multifunctional teams and demonstration of working well in teams
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-motivated, with an ability and desire to work collaboratively
    • Ability to think innovatively and solve complex problems
    • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
    • Already has SC status or capable of achieving this
    • A UK driving licencee would be an advantage


    • A higher degree, or equivalent work experience is highly desirable
    • Knowledge/experience of operating in an environment with a graded approach to quality processes
    • Experience of UNIX or Linux systems
    • Knowledge/experience of typical programming languages in use on our customers’ systems (e.g. Fortran, Perl, Csh, Python, C, C++)
