  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure is currently recruiting for a BIM Lead within its Environment & Infrastructure UK business unit in either our London (Canary Wharf) or Reading offices. 


     Key Aims and Objectives

    • E&I UK BIM Lead with focus on development of our Engineering / Design offering in BIM, to ensure that BIM Level 2 becomes Business As Usual.  Once this has been achieved, or we’re on the way to it, the focus will shift towards BIM Level 3, innovation, etc

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties

    • Ensure that Wood is at the forefront of data centric project delivery and BIM within the UK
    • Define, build and lead a collaborative BIM enabled team which spans E&Is UK geographies and market sectors
    • Engage functional Technical Leaders and BIM advocates/practitioners to form a business wide BIM leadership team
    • Support the development of BIM related training/career paths for authors, Information Managers, co-ordinators,  reviewers etc
    • Build upon current practices (both within E&I UK and our wider UK businesses) and develop/apply learnings into the Regeneration, Waste, Water, Industry, Nuclear, Defence sectors
    • Develop a strategy to create an environment and the infrastructure to make BIM/Digital Engineering & Delivery the preferred way of working
    • Challenge and develop appropriate methods for engagement with client and stakeholders to ensure lean delivery
    • Influence clients/at conferences, publishing articles, supporting business development and leading BIM related bids
    • Develop BIM as a standalone service offering to existing and new clients
    • Work with our Information Management team to develop our Common Data Environment and digital work flow offering
    • Demonstrate leadership in the pursuit of digital innovation across E&I UK.  Develop and leverage relationships with staff within E&I Europe and wider US, O&G, Clean Energy, Power and Mining businesses to enhance and implement their innovation/digital learning and apply to E&I markets (water, government, industry, transport, etc)
    • Set a framework into how we can increase the efficiency of design process to increase the intelligence of the data, and ultimately increase the profit outturn.


    For the successful applicant, should he/she demonstrate that the above prime responsibilities are being delivered on target within the UK, we would discuss expanding the role to possibly include a similar role within our wider European E&IS business.

    Skills / Qualifications


    • Implementation/development of BIM into Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy
    • Expert knowledge of software products, their application and use, from vendors such as Autodesk and Bentley
    • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to communicate at all levels and influence decision makers
    • Capacity to develop training material and to teach and support usage of BIM products and processes
    • Ability to articulate the benefits of BIM to a technical/non-technical internal and external audience
    • Experience of establishing a Common Data Environment (CDE) including processes and procedures aligned with PAS 1192 to enable reliable information exchange between Project Team Members, the Employer and other parties
    • Experience of establishing, agreeing and implementing the information structure and maintenance standards for the Information Model
    • Initiate, agree and implement a Project Information Plan and Asset Information Plan
    • Multi-sector experience
    • Practical application of change management in a large organisation
    • Practical experience of using software platforms to facilitate process optimisation and/or to inform business decisions linked to asset management 


    • Seeking, developing and implementing innovative BIM services/products for our existing and new clients
    • Experience of developing BIM marketing information
    • Multi-disciplinary consultancy experience
    • Engineering design experience
    • 4D & 5D experience
    • Practical application of change management






    • Degree (BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng, etc) in either an Engineering, Design or Software related discipline


    • Masters/PhD in Digital Engineering, BIM or related subjects
    • Certified BIM professional through BRE, RICS, ICE, etc
    • Professional Member of relevant Institution
