    Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Planner - Commissioning & Start-Up to work on the world-scale Jazan Project site in Saudi Arabia.


    The successful candidate, to be based at the Project site, will work as part of the PMT responsible for controlling all EPC contractor interfaces with a specific focus on construction completions, overall EPC contractor interfaces and the commissioning and start-up activities. This work involves multiple EPC contractors and presents a schedule challenge that the right candidate will be able to apply their skills to influence the overall schedule outcome. It is a complex world-scale refinery and integrated gasification combined cycle project that requires an ability to work with others and provide schedule advice, guidance and analysis. Furthermore, there is a need to develop commissioning and start-up schedule activities and logic for parts of the refinery and to work with the client operations commissioning and start-up team in assessing resourcing requirements and commissioning and start-up sequences. The role is expected to continue into the commissioning phase as part of the site commissioning team. Work includes: 


    • Support a complex planning exercise to prepare and implement an integrated commissioning and start-up program for the whole refinery complex
    • Deal with multiple EPC contractors in a constructive way to reach a common commissioning plan
    • Review, analyse and extract data from multiple EPC Contractor schedules
    • Review EPC Contractors’ Progress
    • Determine overall Owner’s Pre-commissioning and MCC Schedule based upon the ideal start-up sequence
    • Produce resource-loaded Owner’s Commissioning and Start-up schedule
    • Review and comment on the EPC package contractual commitments
    • Support overall commissioning team producing the Commissioning and Start-up Plan and Associated Deliverables
    • Review pre-commissioning, commissioning and operation related documents
    • Support the development, maintenance and monitoring of the project schedule and progress management system and procedures
    • Support the development, maintenance and monitoring of the commissioning and start-up activities, including developing the progress measurement databases for commissioning and start-up
    • Communicate effectively with others, adjusting style content to the audience
    • Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative and drive

    • Ensure the realization of company and project health, safety, environmental, quality and ethics, systems, policies and procedures

    Skills / Qualifications

    • HNC qualification or equivalent
    • Degree and / or Level 3 QCF in Planning / Project Controls would be beneficial
    • Onshore oil and gas industry experience
    • Overall plant commissioning and start-up planning
    • Extensive experience of Refinery commissioning planning, with a real understanding of refinery commissioning sequences
    • Good analytical skills
    • Understanding of the use of norms & productivity measures
    • Good IT knowledge, including Excel and Word
    • Proficient in the use of Primavera P6
