  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Public Relations Officer with proven experience in relevant field. This position is based in Basra, Iraq on daily basis. 48 working hours per week.

     

    Successful candidate is expected to coordinate and support all activities associated with the growth of Company's in-country Iraqi national team and workforce, ensuring company Integrity core value, employee safety and security at all times is fully understood and managed in-line with company rules and procedures. Provide key support to Iraq Security – Operations Manager (ISOM) on a day to day basis as well as Functional HR/PRO support to the HR team.

    • Coordinate Oilfield Paperwork and entry paperwork for expats and Iraqi nationals to get to the work sites
    • Coordinate all blood tests and visa applications for the contract
    • Act as an Arabic speaker and translator for any in-country issues and any relevant management issues as appropriate
    • Foster a good working relationship and liaise with the BOC/immigration/MoI.
    • Be the direct POC between Wood and local Iraqi business’. Bus company, airport taxis, hotel and conference venues.
    • Link between client Local National Managers and Wood management as required.
    • Assist the Wood ISOM with visa applications and BOC approval in coordination with relevant agencies.
    • Provide local intelligence by meeting and liaising with the Oilfield Regional Commanders.
    • Act as the Wood PRO in the event of an emergency evacuation and liaise with the border/port authorities.
    • Aid the Wood ISOM when auditing the contract security providers and transport providers.
    • Advise Wood on Iraqi Labour Law and other Government Policies and Procedures.
    • Act as the company represent native in the local clinic during annual blood test for Wood employees.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Technical / Business Skills:

    • Strong research and analytical capabilities: ability to think strategically and rapidly analyse, interpret and integrate data and diverse information from varied sources into clear and concise conclusions and recommendations
    • Ability to plan strategically and working within plans, rosters, mobilisation charts,
    • Provide quality field office support and operations compliance with Wood procedures

     

    Interpersonal Skills:

    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently
    • Demonstrate strong facilitation, negotiation and networking skills
    • Working in team and team building
    • Ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy, handle changes in priorities and coordinate work on multiple tasks
    • Good problem solving skills, organizational capabilities and attention to detail
    • Sound judgment, high degree of initiative and ability to work independently
    • Strong team work orientation, good interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to work effectively with a range of clients and colleagues

     

    Competencies:

    • The fact the role involves a close working relationship within Iraq then the Safety and Assurance core value together with the Integrity core value are key in ensuring the safety of employees and the reputation of the company are maintained and kept intact
    • Business & Industry Experience:
    • Proven relevant professional experience, previous history or knowledge of working in similar role in Iraq

     

    Educational Attainments:

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant or equivalent demonstrable experience
