  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for an Environmental Technical Engineer on a part time basis (3 days per week) to be responsible to their Line Manager, and their Assignment or Department, for the provision of timely advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policy, EUETS and process environmental issues and Management System and Client requirements.


    • Act as asset focal point to Clients
    • Ensure the assets are working within the prescribed legislative framework and permitting regime, and be able to inform and update as required on legislative changes
    • Attend morning call and investigate changes in daily reportable parameters/KPI’s (e.g. flare, chemical usage and discharge and OIW)
    • Monitor and measure key identified environmental impacts and aspects
    • Interrogate and challenge environmental data
    • Devises and implements control systems to monitor operational efficiency and performance of systems and materials
    • Provide monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly and annual reports for the assets as required
    • Submit and approve monthly, quarterly and annual EEMS returns on the DECC portal on behalf of the assets; or SEPA SPRI and PPC reports (depending on asset operations)
    • Review and update environmental permits as required
    • Submit chemical permit variations to the incumbent consultants
    • Manage and act on annual HSEQ plan targets
    • Researches into problem areas to advance basic knowledge, evaluate new theories and techniques and to solve specific problems
    • Assist with onshore regulatory inspections and ensure actions are inputted in to IMPact, authorise and close out IMPact actions
    • Liaise with contractors e.g. EU ETS and external EMS auditors and ensure actions are inputted in to IMPact, authorise and close out IMPact actions
    • Input in to engineering queries and change environmental management as required through liaison with project discipline engineers (usually though Risk Assessments and EIA)
    • Support the e-rep function; identify and establish training, plan and deliver the annual away day, update monthly trackers and deliver quarterly bulletin
    • Attend weekly, monthly/ad-hoc client meetings as required
    • Ensure incidents and near misses with an environmental impact are included in CAIRS, authorise and close out.
    • Raise and submit for approval, non-conformances to the Regulator as required
    • Participate in investigations in to environmental incidents
    • Provides technical consultancy services for the client

    Skills / Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Appropriate Degree in Bio-Science/Chemistry or Environmental Studies
    • NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable)


    Minimum Experience:

    • 1-2 year in a technical role, or association with Technical Safety, HS or E role in another industry



    Job-Specific Skills:

      • Familiarisation with O&G on and offshore regulations (DECC/SEPA)
      • Good planning and organisational skills
      • Engineering and process minded
      • Effective/competent MS Office Suite User
      • High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
