  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a HSSEA Manager to join the Clean Energy team in Glasgow.  The role objective will be to ensure that the Wood HSE and Quality Management Systems and related activities are adequately maintained and implemented so that resulting actions are delivered effectively in the Glasgow and Paris offices. To ensure that HSSEA business risks are minimised.


    • The HSSEA Manager uses expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive Quality and HSE culture. This represents a key role in helping control business related risks in the organisation
    • Responsible for ensuring all Quality and HSE Management System documentation is kept up-to-date and for ensuring policies and practices are adopted
    • Helps to plan, implement, monitor and review all aspects of the HSSEA management systems
    • Ensures that the Wood Management System certification remains operational
    • Supports the organisation’s aim to avoid operational losses, minimise brand protection issues and to assure continued process capability to its clients
    • Ensure effective suppliers’ performance across the region
    • Ensure Quality and HSE performance databases in accordance with company requirements
    • Attend Management Review meetings
    • Ensure effective system, supplier and office/project based audits, effective close out of audit findings, audit reports and proper corrective and preventive actions, through Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Ensue effective working practices that are safe and add to an improved Company HSSEA performance;
    • Keep up to date with new developments and maintain a working knowledge of the latest Quality and HSE related techniques and any HSSEA developments that affect STS’s professional environment;
    • Oversee the Travel Risk Assessment Process
    • Manage the company Incident reporting system
    • Ensure H&S Forum and Green Team meetings take place
    • Attend Annual review meetings
    • Ensure professional contact with other colleagues within the Wood HSSEA function
    • Ensure effective HSSEA communication updates
    • Ensure effective training and adequate cover is in place for fire wardens and first aiders
    • Ensure communication of regular safety moments
    • Quality objective, KPI’s and metric reports
    • Ensure effective monthly incident and headcount reporting information
    • Ensure effective reporting of HSE incidents
    • Responsible for all Paris HSSEA activities






    Skills / Qualifications


    • University degree in related discipline
    • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor QualifiedExperience of working in and managing a Quality and HSE Management system environment
    • Supervisory or direct management experience of more junior staff members is required.
    • Relevant industry experiencedesirable.
    • 10+ years HSSEA experience

    Knowledge, skills and experience:

    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office to include Excel and VISIO
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent planning and organisational skills
    • Confident self starter who can work independently
    • Knowledge of HSE standards and legal requirements
    • Knowledge of internal and external audits and third party certification audits practices

    Level of Influence & Decision Making Authority:


    ELT-3 Delegation of Authority as per Wood’s delegation will be applicable. The scope of all accountabilities and responsibilities is day to day for the Glasgow CE office and Paris office.  Responsible for managing HSSEA activities in the Paris office through the local HSSEA resource.
