  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood have an exciting opportunity available for a skilled and experienced Project Manager / Senior Project Manager, within our Consultancy business. The Consultancy business sits within our Nuclear Services business unit and offers specialist consultancy services, primarily in the nuclear industry.  We work across Defence and Civil Nuclear sectors.  We are looking for an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to ensure the business reaches its targets by ensuring effective management of tenders, projects and client relationships. The ideal candidate will be based in Glasgow, however this task can be undertaken at various locations. There is a requirement for travel to various sites within the role.

     

    Responsibilities

    • The management of projects safely, to quality standards, budget, timescales and customer satisfaction
    • Direct interface with Clients to develop business opportunities; build relationships and communication on project progress and any variations
    • The delivery of tenders as bid manager, supported where necessary by engineers planners and cost engineers to deliver writing of tender submissions, generation of estimates and programmes and effective deliver of a win plan for the opportunity
    • Proactive and adaptable approach suited to the diverse and challenging nature of the business
    • Prepare formal monthly progress reports and present to the business review
    • Participating in the development and improvement of Project Management performance within the business

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    Skills/Qualifications

    • Experience of project delivery in a Defence, Civil Nuclear or similar regulated environment
    • Experience in managing multiple small projects, multidiscipline projects and on site projects across a range of customers and stakeholders.
    • A good understanding of project planning, including scope management, Breakdown Structures, estimating and scheduling
    • A good understanding of Project Control, including cost control, schedule adherence, risk management and change management
    • Ability to participate in and influence commercial decision making
    • Ability to understand and communicate effectively on project financial issues, margin, profit appraisals
    • Ability to take the lead on projects and motivate staff
    • An understanding of the legal, tendering and contract process to support the success of the business
    • Experience of participating in negotiations with both clients and the supply chain would be advantageous
    • Knowledge of the engineering and safety case work within the nuclear industry or related industries would be advantageous
    • Experience in managing design and build contracts would be advantageous
