    Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to support the Kemerton Lithium project based in our Perth Office.

     

    The Albemarle Kemerton Plant is a greenfield world scale Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate production plant to be located at the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area approximately 160 km south of Perth, Western Australia, and 17 km north-east of the existing port town of Bunbury.

     

    The Albemarle Kemerton Plant will initially comprise of three (3) trains, each producing 20,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate. First product target by 2020. Expansion to five (5) trains will take the ultimate site production to 100,000 tpa by around 2025. Wood has been appointed by Albemarle to deliver the Albemarle Kemerton Plant project.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Administer all commercial aspects of the EPCM head-contract, including:
      • contract notices, change management / variations, progress claims, periodic reporting;
      • cost control, financial reporting and forecasting;
      • develop and manage KPI regime and delegation of authority for all commercial activities
    • Be the Project focal contact point for all legal and contractual matters, including:
      • Establish key contract templates for subcontracts, Works Contracts, supply contracts;
      • Review of all contract terms and conditions prior to execution;
      • Oversee and lead negotiation of amendments to contract terms;
      • Establish contract remuneration and risk-reward schemes;
    • Assist the project supply chain and construction teams in administering the Works Contracts, including:
      • input into development of the procurement and contracting strategy;
      • advice on contract terms and conditions, review of recommendations to award;
      • guidance on contract claims, review of variations, dispute management and resolution;
      • administration of bonds, guarantees;
      • Manage risk, opportunities and insurance programme for the Project;
      • Manage tax matters with internal tax advisors;
    • Administer key Wood commercial and corporate policies.

     

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Tertiary qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Law;
    • A minimum of 15 – 20 years of commercial experience in industrial construction projects (mining or oil & gas) for an engineering or construction company;
    • High level of commercial and contractual awareness with EPCM or EPC contract delivery models;
    • A thorough understanding and awareness of contract law and contract management;
    • Able to draft, review and advise on contractual terms and conditions clauses;
    • Previous experience in developing and leading a team;
    • Understanding of project accounting reporting requirements and variance analysis;
    • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and an understanding of SAP, Oracle or similar system.
