  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood currently has an opportunity for a Lead Electrical Designer on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work, in accordance with the Discipline Design Instructions, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour, cost budgets and the project schedule targets. The role will be for 8 months based in Staines.

     

    The successful candidate will have experience of working on Oil and Gas projects, and must have experience including the ability to deliver the below document types/Electrical Design Functions with minimum supervision.

    • Cable Routing Design (above and below ground)
    • Cable Containment and Cable Routing inside Pre-fabricated Buildings like Remote Instrument Enclosures/Substations
    • General Electrical Equipment Layouts including Sub-station Layouts
    • Single Line Diagrams / protection schemes
    • Installation Drawings
    • Electrical Modelling in SP3D Environment
    • Electrical Design deliverables Production using SP3D and SPEL
    • Input to Model Review by using Safety in Design specification
    • Input to Cost Estimation

     The candidate must be able to deliver other document types that may be required during the execution of the project such as :-

    • Power and Earthing Layouts
    • Cable Schedules
    • Schematic/Connection Diagrams
    • Earthing Systems
    • Lighting System Design and Layout (including Calculation using  lighting design software application)
    • Electrical Equipment Layout inside Pre-fabricated Buildings like Remote Instrument Enclosures/Substations
    • Electrical Equipment List
    • Electrical MTO to accuracy of +/-10%
    • Cable Transit Layout

    Skills / Qualifications

    • HNC in Electrical Engineering, or related subject

    • Experience in FEED/Detailed Engineering projects

    • Computer literate Microsoft office and Micro-station, with excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Experience in Smart Plant SP3D and SPEL Design Environment

    • Ability for work collaboration management with other global project offices
