  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood has an immediate opportunity for a Process Safety Risk Engineer to be worked on facilities expansion project of our client in Bahrain. The position is based in Bahrain on single status basis for 1 year with a possibility of an extension.


    In this role you will play a key role within project teams, with responsibility for technical safety issues and deliverables on projects at EPC stage of design process. We are currently looking for a professional with the drive and commitment to be part of our integrated team in Bahrain.

    • Checking and approving process safety activities and deliverables including HSE Philosophies, HSE Plans, consequence modelling, HAZOP, HAZID and SIL
    • Conducting safety studies and risk assessments both qualitative and quantitative
    • Conducting process safety reviews and audits
    • Participating in HAZOP, HAZIDS and SIL reviews
    • Responsible for all process safety issues and deliverables - primarily during the detailed design phases of projects
    • Coordinating Fire Protection and Environmental activities and deliverables - primarily during the detailed design phases of projects
    • Meeting project deadlines and milestones for deliverables
    • Liaising with project management, other technical disciplines and clients
    • Interpreting relevant process safety related legislation and standards

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
    • Membership of a recognised professional institution
    • Experience within an engineering contractor or consultancy, operator, or other relevant organisation
    • Experience in a technical safety role on upstream oil & gas projects would be advantageous
    • Broad experience of a range of process safety topics, with the ability to demonstrate understanding across these topics, is essential
    • Demonstrable training and experience in key risk identification & assessment techniques (such as HAZOP & LOPA) would be an advantage
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability and willingness to undertake new challenges
    • Experience with Microsoft Office skills and general computing skills
    • Familiarity with common process safety software packages would be an advantage
    • Proven ability to conduct technical work within budgetary and time constraints
