    We are currently looking to recruit a Welding Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen,. The successful candidate will be required to interface with oil and gas operators, fabrication contractors, and equipment manufacturers in support of greenfield and brownfield engineering projects.

     

    Detailed Job Description

     

    Typical workscopes included within the remit of the Welding Engineer are:

    • Provision of technical support (welding and related metallurgical support) during all phases of engineering projects, including the development, qualification and review of welding procedures and inspection specifications, for the company and its subcontractors.
    • Interface with design engineers, manufacturers and fabrication contractors to ensure best practice and client specifications are applied to all stages of engineering projects.
    • Witnessing of welder qualification testing and on-site manufacturing and fabrication activities.

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    Personal Skills

    • Demonstrate technical understanding of materials and welding engineering standard practices and communicate effectively with others on technical issues.
    • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to delivering first class materials and welding engineering services.
    • Experience with carbon steel, low alloy steels, duplex stainless steel and Ni-base alloy welding, including writing and qualifying welding procedures, and review of subcontractor welding procedures, to client and international standards.
    • Team player with good interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to those in a wide range of organisation positions.
    • Capacity to understand complex problems and help identify practical and technically sound solutions.

    Key selection criteria

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Materials / Metallurgical or Welding Engineering. Alternatively, tertiary education and suitable experience may be used to demonstrate equivalent standards.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Formal training in welding applications associated with design and in-service materials.
    • Thorough knowledge of international codes and standards relevant to the Energy Industry, with specific experience of ASME, and BS EN ISO welding codes and practices.
    • Good PC literacy (specifically with the MS Office products).
    • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

    Relevant Experience:

    • Experience in the Oil & Gas or Energy industries preferred in a role which had a primary technical function requiring the provision of welding engineering services.
