  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking to recruit a competent Contracts Specialist / Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in the oil & gas and petrochemical industry to ensure Al Zour New Refinery Project contract is managed and delivered by Wood to the necessary standard and to report, monitor, verify, analyze and comment on the reported and claimed change notices, change proposals, change orders and miscellaneous works expended / installed / constructed quantities provided by Contractor, as well as provide expertise and support to other functions within the PMC. 


    • To have an excellent working knowledge of all quantity surveying techniques and practices
    • Develop and implement techniques which address the above objectives and provide the correct tools for carrying out the work while taking part in the duties of the position
    • Ensure that all techniques are supported by adequate computerized systems which are designed and applied in an efficient and user-friendly fashion
    • Analyze Contractor quantities, liaising when necessary with relevant contractor’s personnel and Wood departments
    • Review, analyze and recommend to client with assessment of Contractor claimed changes
    • Review analyze and recommend to client with assessment of Company potential changes based on documents such as correspondence, waiver requests, requests for information, technical queries, etc.
    • Evaluate quotations obtained from different suppliers and subcontractors, ensure quantities and specifications are in line with tender and projects specifications
    • Assist in review and verification of cost estimates provided by Contractors
    • Assist in preparing or verifying PMC cost estimates on an as required basis
    • Liaise during the between various Groups, including other Engineering and Project Controls Group Teams to ensure continuity and consistency and to ensure that all job requirements are met and are in compliance with Engineering and Contracts Group Procedures and Instructions
    • Co-ordinate the times and transfer of information and data to members of the team and to ensure that professional evaluations, recommendations and estimates / measures are consistently prepared and properly applied

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Degree in Quantity Surveying with 15 years of work experience
    • 8 years in related designation / specialty and 5 years in a similar role
    • Knowledgeable in system aspects of Quantity Tracking Software
    • Self-motivated and able to clearly communicate with contractors at all levels
    • Good presentation skills and ability to provide training
    • Good communication skills
