  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Piping Designer to join our team in Yuzhno, Sakhalin. We are looking for candidates with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance to ensure that the company continues to differentiate itself from competitors by delivering quality projects to our client’s requirements.

     

    This represents an excellent opportunity for individuals interested to work in Sakhalin, with most assignments expected to be for at least one year’s duration with the opportunity of further extension for the right candidates.

     

     

    • Single Point responsibility for the integrity and quality of work within the Piping Design discipline.
    • Managing the resources and staff with discipline.
    • Ensure effective communication and interface definition between all disciplines for design development, review and check progresses.
    • Represent PSNS in coordination with Client discipline for monitoring and variance control of Client standards. Ensure robust challenge of company standards as part of normal working practice.
    • Identify potential applications for new technologies in discipline area.
    • Actively train and encourage the development of Russian and junior engineering staff to fulfil discipline engineering role providing Competency Assessment, Staff Mentoring, On the Job Training (OJT), and arranging discipline specialist courses and internal training.
    • Review and control any discipline design work carried out by third parties vendors or Russian Design Institutes (RDIs).
    • Provide detailed discipline engineering input during all design phases, including interpretation of standards.
    • Provide highest quality discipline input into conceptual design teams.
    • Develop project risk registers defining key risks to start-up of the overall project and its constituent projects.
    • Develop verification requirements to determine the probability of risk occurrence.
    • Review results of verifications and advise on required mitigations to overcome foreseen risks to project start-up.
    • Define requirements for and participate in assurance activities to assess effectiveness in closure of risks
    • Responsible of the provision of Structural Design services in support of project scope of work delivery.
    • Ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current releases of any company/client or statutory design, codes, standards or procedures.
    • Preparation Technical evaluations and clarifications of received bids.
    • Reviewing of vendor’s documents for compliance with company requirements.
    • Preparation of material requisitions.
    • Undertaking Site Surveys as required.
    • Input to Scope of Work and Basis of Design.
    • Development of new design processes within PDMS/MDS.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • 15+ years’ experience in the Piping field.
    • 2+ years’ experience on Drilling Assets required.
    • Oil and Gas engineering required preferably brownfield.
    • Conceptual, Front End and Detailed Design experience required.
    • Shell DEP experience preferred.
    • Experience in onshore/offshore projects in Russia, cold/remote regions is advantageous.
    • Field experience in construction strongly preferred.
    • Experience in an Engineering Design company/Russian Design Institute desirable.
    • Proficient user of PDMS.
    • Proficient user of MDS
