  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Due to continuing success in London and the South-East, we are looking to recruit a Consultant to play a key role providing support in Wood’s Climate, Resilience & Sustainability (CRS) Team.


    This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the continued success and growth of a reputable and successful team and contribute to a wide range of high-profile projects across Wood’s business. You will have a strong academic background in the fields of: climate resilience; adaptation; energy; carbon management and / or sustainability.


    A key feature of the role will be supporting Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for climate change resilience and mitigation. You will be working with a wide range of clients including some of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK. Beyond this your role will see you being responsible for providing support to the Environmental Assessment team, delivering Climate, Resilience & Sustainability consultancy services.

    The post holder will be required to visit client premises and Wood’s other offices and a full driving licence would be desirable although not essential.

    Skills / Qualifications

    You will hold at least a 2.1 degree in a relevant environmental discipline, with a strong emphasis on Climate Change Resilience, Adaptation, Sustainability and / or Climate Change Mitigation. 


    You will ideally have experience in a consultancy environment or other relevant industry and will have a wide range of skill sets and a willingness to become involved in a number of projects. The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge of local government climate change / sustainability policy and program development and demonstrate experience conducting research and analysis, writing case studies and reports, supporting proposal writing, and working as part of a team.


    The following are essential requirements:

    • Knowledge and understanding of greenhouse gas inventory methodologies and mitigation strategies
    • Have knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning processes and a broad understanding of methodologies for carrying out GHG and climate resilience assessments in an EIA context
    • Have previous experience of delivering EIAs within multi-disciplinary teams
    • Have an interest in developing technical skills as part of ongoing career development
    • Have proven client facing experience and managing client and / or other partner relationships

    Experience in the following areas is desirable:

    • Climate change risk assessment and adaptation planning
    • Energy and Carbon Management (ESOS experience would be a benefit)
    • Corporate Sustainability
    • Sustainability Reporting (such as CRC, CDP, GRI etc.)
    • Environmental Training
    • Environmental Auditing
    • Resource Efficiency
