  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Section Engineer with experience in the nuclear industry.

    The BEP Joint Venture project will safely design and deliver a Plant and the works in accordance with the requirements of the contract to enable conditioning of wastes from the various donor plants carried out in line with the Employer’s needs and to the satisfaction of stakeholders in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).

    Key responsibilities:

    • To control a section of the civil engineering works within the Civils team.
    • Check drawings and quantities.
    • Schedule selected materials for ordering from the procurement department.
    • Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations in order to meet an agreed programme of deadlines.
    • Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary.
    • Supervise and monitor the site labour force and monitor the work of any sub-contractors.
    • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
    • Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained.
    • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
    • Arrange testing of materials.
    • Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used.
    • Keep a Site Diary.
    • Fully interact with other members of the construction site team (team player).
    • Liaise with other function/departmental managers.
    • Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate t areas of your responsibility.
    • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with the specification.
    • Work to the BEP-JV IMS.
    • Take part in and deliver a Safety and Quality Culture with the entire site team.
    • To assist with the management of concrete pours.
    • To be competent in the QA process from start to finish.
    • To mentor younger team members.
    • Undertake other duties as required by the Site Agent to facilitate construction of the works.

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Preferred education level 6 Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
    • BTEC Level 4 HNC Civils / Construction as a minimum.
    • Daily interface with works teams ensuring works information is issued as required for the works, including the issue of any permits to works.
    • Be competent in the use of total station setting out and check surveying.
    • Demonstrate previous experience in a Section Engineer role.
    • CSCS Card.
    • Site Safety for Supervisors.
    • The ability to obtain BPSS and a P4 pass is essential for continuance in the role.
