  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting two Construction Infrastructure professionals to work primarily on Defence-related projects at Principal Consultant / Associate Director level, based in either our Reading, Leamington Spa or London offices. This challenging client-facing role will require you to visit sites, question assumptions and prepare evidence-based recommendations. The work will primarily focus on functional design, cost-effectiveness, buildability and building performance standards. Based on a good understanding of the building process and associated risks, you will need to identify cost drivers for designers and contractors from within the contract and/or the proposed technical solution.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead a number of projects as part of a successful, delivery-focused team.
    • Provide technical advice on construction infrastructure standards.
    • Liaise with client SMEs to develop solutions.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    Essential

    • Have a construction infrastructure background.
    • Experience in developing buildable schemes that minimise costs.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to produce high quality, clear written technical reports.
    • Ability to direct the work of other construction professionals including QS, engineers and draughting technicians.
    • Adept at working on own initiative and as part of an established team.

    Desirable

    • Experience working with the MOD.
    • Security clearance to a basic level (BPSS). Note, if this is not held, it will be applied for on appointment.

     

    Qualifications

    • Degree or equivalent in Architecture, Building or other construction related discipline.
    • Membership of professional institution in architecture, building or other construction related discipline.
