  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for an Assistant Tax Manager. 


    The Assistant Manager – UK will work alongside the rest of the UK tax team to manage the delivery of the UK group’s tax compliance process, ensure the tax numbers and notes are in place for all UK statutory entities as well as feeding into the larger Plc reporting process in accordance with internal deadlines.


    All members of the UK tax team are required to work closely with accounting, tax, treasury and company secretariat colleagues and build internal networks with the wider business.


    Key Accountabilies & Responsibilities:

    • Calculation of corporate interest restriction for UK group of companies
    • UK controlled foreign companies compliance
    • Calculating tax on non-routine transactions (e.g. disposals of shares or property etc)
    • UK transfer pricing compliance – imputing adjustments, TP documentation, liaising with Treasury to ensure arm’s length principle applied to intercompany balances etc
    • Liaise with the various accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information required for the tax computations and audit queries. Note that the preparation of tax returns is outsourced and so this liaison role is on an ad-hoc basis
    • Assist with the preparation of the year-end tax provision for Group statutory reporting purposes and key controls and processes are fully complied with

    Working Relationships:

    Internal: UK FD’s and finance teams, UK Shared Service Centre, Group Finance team, Group Treasury team, Commercial function, Group Legal and Secretariat, Group Internal Audit, Global Tax team

    External: HMRC, accountants, auditors, lawyers, external advisors, and other third party providers



    Skills / Qualifications

    The role requires an enthusiastic team player who is a tax technically capable individual with a strong commercial mindset and interest in learning about Wood. Plc business and being involved in all areas of the compliance process. 

    • Qualified accountant or tax professional with at least one years tax experience post qualification experience
    • Strong accounting skills and knowledge of UK tax.
    • Exposure to all compliance issues that affects a large group including worldwide debt cap, transfer pricing and R&D claims.
    • Good team worker
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage and progress numerous actions in a coordinated and organised manner.
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and research skills, and ability to use IT effectively.
    • Desirable: working knowledge of Alphatax company and group modules and Longview [or similar]
    • Desirable: exposure to CFC management and reporting
