Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel.
This role is responsible for leading the delivery of precise, commercial, timely and cost effective legal counsel within the relevant areas of responsibility in respect of any matter which requires it and in respect of any matter which has potential or actual legal or reputational implications, supporting the needs of the relevant area, ensuring priorities are aligned with the relevant short and long term strategic priorities and enabling the success of the [relevant geographical region and/or service bundle(s)] through effective management of legal risk and cost.
The role acts as a business partner providing counsel and mentoring on legal matters as required. The role can cover a broad spectrum of specialist areas of law on a multi-jurisdictional basis where significant experience and judgement are needed (including M&A activity, joint ventures, litigation/disputes, employment law, treasury, IP/innovation, real estate, company establishment and compliance matters). In addition, this role manages the provision of legal counsel on key strategic transactions, operational and dispute/litigation matters.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Internal: BU chief counsel, director of legal operations, assistant general counsel, service bundle’s(s’) leadership team(s), wider legal team, direct and non-direct reports, other Group functions including Ethics & Compliance and BU/service bundle Commercial
External: General Counsel and in-house legal teams of our customers and partners, third party contacts, external service providers, third-party vendors
Level of Influence and Decision Making Authority:
The role holder works with a degree of autonomy in complex legal cases requiring analysis and judgement commensurate with level of experience and as delegated by the relevant BU chief counsel [or managing counsel]. The role acts within applicable Wood/functional policies and procedures, the Legal and other applicable Group and/or BU delegations of authority in addition to legislative boundaries across multi-jurisdictions. It keeps the BU chief counsel appraised of all material matters in line with Wood policies and procedures.
Qualifications: Education and qualification as a lawyer, solicitor, barrister or equivalent qualification and a valid/current law license
